Kristi and Seth always planned on having a large family and loved life as new parents when their son Harrison was born. But when their second child Hayden was born with central nervous system complications, they were heartbroken. On top of the financial and emotional strains of Hayden's surgeries and weekly therapy, the family had to convert their only guest room into Seth's home office when his company made cutbacks due to the economy. Now with Hayden on the way to recovery, the family hopes to find the silver lining. The Home Mavens want to help the family look forward to a happy and healthy future with updates at home.
Cooking Maven Deborah showed Kristi a recipe for Asian Cabbage Slaw with Oriental Vinaigrette for everyday dining or entertaining.
Putting a new spin on grilled fruit kabobs, Deborah and Kristi used fresh fruit to make Salmon and Nectarine Skewers.
Home Maven Patrick and Décor Maven Wanda gave the family room a newly refreshed look with two tones of yellow paint to brighten the space and to make it look larger.
To update the kitchen table, Wanda and Kristi's sister Candi painted and added a paisley pattern using French curves and craft paint.
Wanda and Candi used a decoupage technique and scrapbook paper to create a room divider for the new multi-purpose room.
To spruce up the new multi-purpose room further, Wanda worked with Kristi to create beautiful wall art using fabric and molding.
Patrick and Seth updated two tables to create a streamlined console for the TV and computer.
