James and Evelyn met through their campus ministry and have always shared a love for public service. James fell for Evelyn’s intelligence and generous spirit and now the couple lives with their two children in North Carolina. When their friends John and Migdalia fell on hard times in San Diego, the family invited the couple and their three children into their home until they could get back on their feet. Now, John and Migdalia want to thank the family for their generosity by calling in the Home Mavens to help their friends spruce up their home.

To create a visual impact when guests enter the home, Home Maven Patrick and Jim repurposed a dresser into a cozy chair for the family’s new entryway.
Wanda used Evelyn’s love of bold patterns to make a silk screen to decorate curtains, pillows and frames for the home.
To create a more contemporary rug, Wanda and Evelyn created an inexpensive alternative with a bold pattern using carpet remnants.
Patrick and Migdalia made the fireplace the focal point of the living room using large scalloped crown moulding.
